We won!
Yesterday night, we visited Sonnenberg – our previous home pitch – this time as visitors to play against ZKB. The last match we played with them was something worth to remember, we were 0-1 down, then we equalized, scored 4 goals, won the game quite easily.
As we already had quite a few defeats this season, we tried to be as humble as possible. We were able to have a strong team – with the help of Shamrock players – and even some quality substitutes.
The match started well, we were controlling the game, but we had an early injury and had to change a central back and even change a few positions. But suddenly, after a corner, Ahmet scored from the side from long range. We continued to attack, and even though ZKB had the ball more than us, they didn’t have huge chances. During the first half, they got close to equalizing only once, but the post saved our goal.
In the second half, we tried to refresh the squad with some substitutes. The play didn’t really change, we had more chances, they had not. What was quite noticeable is that they had many “injuries”, but even after stopping the game for a few minutes, the player who was agonizing on the ground came back to play. We tried to continue playing our game, not speaking to the referee but more to each other, helping out who made a mistake, staying in formation. Towards the end of the second half, ZKB was pushing and they had a few chances, once they almost scored as the ball went through the defense line and stopped just in front of the goal line… But as they say, the good team also has luck, and we were the better team on Thursday.
