We had our first home league match yesterday in Sportanlage Au, which is our new “home” from this season.
Long story short: we lost, 0-0 at half time, 0-2 at the end.
First half: I’m not overstating that this half was the luckiest 40 minutes in the history of FC VBZ. SC Dow CH had at least 10 huge chances, they hit the post, they missed against an open goal from 2 meters, and Humberto, our magical goalkeeper, had at least 5 huge saves. If the result would have been 0-5, that would not describe well how wide open we were at the back, how easy it was for them to run past the midfield. Our attacks were sporadic, some long passes – especially from Borja – were promising, but otherwise, only one team was on the pitch. Still, 0-0 at half time was a very good result.
Second half: the writer of this post entered the game as a substitute – bad luck comes… In the second half, we finally started to control a bit better the ball, we had more chances, and Dow didn’t have an opportunity to score every minute. (Just to be clear, this was not because of me. I touched the ball probably 5 times.) Dow scored once, but we kept pushing, then they scored again. Meanwhile, they also started to play very hard, we suffered a lot of fouls, they got numerous yellow cards, and in one case, there was almost a fight on the pitch after a foul against us. It seemed like the referee doesn’t have the match under control.
